Community participation partnership and governance

Q1

Who will deliver the development?

The development will aim to contribute land for housing towards the CLT (Community Land Trust).

In other parts of the development we hope to work alongside the local residents to create a public private partnership.

Q2

Why?

We understand there is a need for affordable housing of which can be provided within the development for local people.

We are also aware that the Royal Docks community is vary active and we hope to incorporate their ideas in every step of the development to create a socially cohesive environment.

Q3

What does this mean for you?

This means local people will be able to live within the development near their existing support networks and community. It will also help the Newham community to bounce back after Covid-19

We will also be making efforts to create active streets, high vitality and to keep crime low. The streets will also be heavily walkable with regular green open spaces and cycle routes to promote a high footfall and 'eyes on the street'

Q4

How will we achieve this?

To gain ideas from the community we will be holding meetings in person in addition to a strong social media presence to gain feedback from all members of the existing community, not just those most active.

In terms of funding, there is potential for Affordable Housing Funding, the London Housing Fund and The Affordable Homes Rental Fund.

These funding schemes would all help to provide the much needed affordable houses in Newham, London.
