The overall aim of regenerating the current Silo D is to expand and revitalise the historically enriched communal hub. By retaining the overall character of the historic building together with a more modern glass extensions that are overlooking the dock will provide more opportunities for public activities inside.

The additional glass structures on both sides of Silo D will create a brighter enclosed space and a clearer view into and out of the building. People visiting the Silo D museum will be able to have additional viewing platforms overlooking the area from second or third floor of the regenerated Silo D.

The decision was made to keep the existing frontage, whilst making sure that it is clean to keep the Silo D as one of the main landmarks in the area. The addition of the glass structure has made the building to create an area where people can overlook on to the Dock water. Keeping the historic signage will help people to orientate and navigate on site, as well as keeping the emphasis on the rich history behind the building.
